Implant Technologies

When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, there can have been few more important advances than the ability to replace missing dentition, supported on an artificial root.

From a technicians point of view implants bring a whole new set of aesthetic challenges. Most notably tissue aesthetics.

For the dentist this means restoring gum and bone to original contour.

For the technician it means producing a profile at the gum level that is both cleansable and aesthetic. When the implant is placed inside the arch this is hard to achieve without ridge lapping. This is just one example of where art and science are often in conflict for implants. To some degree we are always looking for the best compromise.

At Simply Crown and Bridge however, we don't like compromise and therefore spend a lot of time listening and learning, always trying to improve our understanding. As part of this philosophy we have recently tried for and achieved Straumann's coveted Platinum Laboratory Status.

Described by Straumann thus:

"Platinum Approved Status" is Straumann's ultimate recognition of a technician with comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the Dental Implant Systems, and underpins the genuine working partnership between technician and practitioner striving to achieve the ultimate results in implantology.

Example 1

This is a Cad Cam produced Bridge made by laser sintering of Chromium. This is one of many new technologies giving extreme accuracy when working with Implants.

Example 2

These Implant abutments have precious alloy cast to them. Custom made in the laboratory, they can be designed to fully support the porcelain for extremely durable screw retained restorations.  We opaque down inside the screw holes and carefully shape them into porcelain tubes. Making a very aesthetic finish and stopping the composite plug turning grey.

Example 3

Cad Cam produced Zirconia abutments can be used for either screw retained or cement retained crowns.

Example 4

This Implant Bridge was custom made in the laboratory and cast in precious alloy. The frame was designed to fully support the porcelain for a very strong, aesthetic result. Pink porcelain gum was added to keep the proportions of the teeth.
